ING is one of the largest banking and financial services institutions in the world, with more than US$1.1 trillion in assets under management. It is also among the top 10 largest European companies by revenue. Headquartered in Amsterdam, they offer a range of financial services including investment banking, private banking and asset management.

The challenge

With a reputation for innovation and the highest standards of client service, ING enjoys a long standing reputation for exceeding the expectations of its customers. A fundamental part of their strategy is to stay ahead of the curve with market trends and proactively offer new and market-leading solutions to their clients.

The profile of ING’s private banking clients was becoming increasingly entrepreneurial, with a growing number of them keen to access and invest in private market opportunities. However, ING’s traditional methods of client engagement through a network of relationship managers was a barrier to scaling their private markets offering. They were also limited by operational inefficiencies; client data was stored across several disparate systems and creating a transparent view of their portfolios was a slow and laborious process.

The solution

ING partnered with Delio to create LeoLink, a brand new digital proposition that allowed their high net worth clients and investors to access an ING branded platform dedicated to private investment opportunities.  The white-labelled technology enables ING to digitally promote deals based on specific investor profiles and track which opportunities investors are engaging with; this allows them to target their client engagement strategy in a more sophisticated and efficient way.

LeoLink is also enabling ING to scale their private markets proposition far more efficiently by utilising data insights captured through the platform to inform their strategic thinking.

The result

LeoLink has changed the way ING’s private markets offering is communicated to their client base. It has allowed them to tap into the growing demand for private investments from wealthy investors within their client base and has even prompted client referrals who have told fellow investors about the platform’s functionality.

ING says that the platform has helped them to scale their private markets operation in a way they wouldn’t have been able to without a digital solution. It has also enabled them to expand their access to other institutions and investors operating in the private markets space.
